Keep Tanzania Green
More than 90% of Tanzanian households are still depending on firewood or charcoal for cooking. The overwhelming dependence on fuel for basic cooking needs is a major cause of poverty. It also causes health problems and leads to deforestation, soil degradation and climate change. We will provide the most vulnerable families with a solution which converts easily accessible biomass to cooking fuel, re-directs spending on charcoal into increased income, reduces deforestation and health hazard.

More than 90% of households in Tanzania are still depending on firewood or charcoal for cooking. On average they spend approximately 35% of their incomes on basic energy services – a substantial amount for many low-income Tanzanians. The overwhelming dependence on biomass for meeting basic cooking and heating needs is a major cause of poverty in Tanzania. It also causes health problems to women and girls, and leads to deforestation, soil degradation, and climate change. Families who have no consistent source of income force women and girls to walk long distances into dangerous territories and put them at risk for rape and violent attacks.
We will provide most vulnerable families with an innovative solution, which converts easily accessible biomass cooking fuel, re-directs the spending on charcoal into increased income, reduces deforestation and health hazard. Manual Biomass Briquette Press is an innovative approach in renewable energy field to provide an alternative fuel to natural gas, coal, lignite, diesel, and many others, as they are going to disappear in near future.
